Chartering Your Men's Group
Chartering involves registering your church's UMM group with the General Commission on United Methodist Men (GCUMM) and informally linking your men's group with thousands of similar men's ministries around the country. You may question "why charter our group when we already are meeting regularly?". Each men's group is different, but some of the reasons to charter include:
- Your men are linked in an international movement of men extending the Kingdom of God
- Your charter gift helps support missions nationally which include the Living Prayer Center, Scouting, and Men in Mission
To charter your group, first gain support from your pastor and other men in your church, set a plan, and elect officers. Once you are ready for formal chartering, please go to the National UMM site at: http://www.gcumm.org/support/chartering.html to download a form or charter online.
For questions or help with getting your Men's Ministry organized and chartered, feel free to contact Martin Rodriquez, the President of the Capital District UMM.
