The Capital District UMM had a major role in starting the Homeless Men's Clothes Closet back in 1999 and have kept it operating ever since. It is currently being managed by the Capital District UMM and is located at 7th and Neches.   In April, 2015, the Clothes Closest served its 20,000 customer. The clothes closet operates out of Central Presbyterian Church at 8th and Brazos. Customers are signed up at A.R.C.H. and walk to the Church. Homeless men can sign up for clothes once a month.  On each visit, they can receive five items of clothing - one of each type (pants, shirts, t-shirts, socks, and underwear).  Other items of clothing such as coats and caps are available depending on donations and handed out on an as-needed basis. See the new video here!

Community First!

A new ministry in which the Capital District UMM will be involved with is Community First! micro-houseCommunity First! which is being developed by Mobile Loaves and Fishes. Community First! is a 27-acre master-planned community that will provide affordable, sustainable housing and a supportive community for the disabled, chronically homeless in Central Texas. We support this ministry through Riverbend Church. You can participate in Community First! by providing financial donations and/or participating in construction of “micro houses” and other projects on the property.

Youth Scholarship

The Capital District UMM has a scholarship program for district youth which is designed to give financial aid to youth seeking to attend a civic youth-serving program or retreat. For more information, please see the Scholarship page.
